Night-one flagship — movement, pick-three cards, and pair chats. Fun, relaxed, no personality scores.

Run sheet: Opening Script → 25-Minute Session → Pair Chat Prompts → Redirect Scripts.

25 minutes · whole cabin + pair rotation · age band 10–15 · seated this-or-that always OK.

Why This Works

Core message: Movement + choice + low-stakes sharing — without personality typing or scores.

Three beats: this-or-that warm-up, pick-three cards, pair chat. Explicitly anti-personality-test.

Pitch to Fellow Counselors

Flagship night one when energy is medium-high and you have ~25 minutes.

Not after heavy travel delay — use This or That instead.

Running long? Use 6 this-or-that pairs, a 12-card deck, and skip the optional volunteer share at close.

Group Plan: Whole Cabin + Pair Rotation

Whole-group beats, then count-off pairs — not boy/girl. Camper may pass and pair with a co-counselor.

  1. Lead: "Pair up — someone new if you can. Pass? Stand by me."
  2. Floaters watch edges; no forced handshakes or hugs.

Safety Checklist

Core rule: Pass OK, no roasting, no forced disclosure.

Setup Walkthrough

No-Prep Fallback

Opening Script

"Welcome to Camp Mix & Match. It's a night-one hello game — not a test, not labels, not forever personality types."

"We'll do quick this-or-that choices, pick a few fun cards, and chat in pairs."

"Pass is always OK. You choose how much to share. Seated mode is OK — point or thumbs instead of moving."

"Rules: kind humor only, no roasting, no pushing people to share private stuff."

25-Minute Camper Session

Use the timer if helpful. It saves nothing outside this device.

Facilitation Timer
45:00

Use this as a rough guide, not a rigid rule.

  1. 0–3
    Frame + roll call

    Opening script.

  2. 3–10
    This or That ×10

Movement or seated; trim to 6 if tight.

  3. 10–11
    Deal cards

18-card starter deck spread on floor/table.

  4. 11–17
    Pick 3 + share 1

    Go around circle; pass OK.

  5. 17–22
    Pair chat

    Count-off pairs; co-counselors float.

  6. 22–25
    Close + headcount

Skip optional volunteer share on night one; closing line.

Detailed Activity Walkthrough

  1. Beat 1: 10 this-or-that pairs (~40 sec each). Counselors model silly picks first.
  2. Beat 2: Deal 18-card starter deck. Each camper picks 3, shares 1 to cabin.
  3. Beat 3: Count-off pairs — show one card you kept private (not shared with the whole cabin); ask "What surprised you?"
  4. Close with headcount — no full-circle debrief.
Pair assignment: Count-off or "someone new" — never boy/girl pairs.

Executive-Function Supports

Pick 3 cards; share 1 to cabin; keep 2 for pair chat.

Pair with co-counselor

Camper may pass on pairing with peers and still do pair chat with staff.
