Mission
Camp TLC helps youth with Spina Bifida build skills, friends, and fun at camp. About 105 campers join us each summer.
About Spina Bifida
Spina Bifida is a neural tube condition present at birth. Camp TLC campers bring diverse abilities and strengths — our program adapts activities so everyone can participate.
For medical details, consult your care team. Camp medical staff review each camper’s health plan before camp.
Teen programs (16–17)
Camp TLC is a six-day residential camp hosted by Camp John Marc. SBANT partners with Scottish Rite
Hospital for Children, Camp John Marc, and community volunteers so campers with Spina Bifida get a
true summer camp week.
Campers ages 8–15 join our main camper program. Older youth may qualify for these teen tracks:
- Age 16 — extended program
-
A team-building week in camp with peers their age. Campers need medical clearance, personal goals
for independence, and prior Camp TLC experience. They help shape their week with counselor support.
- Age 17 — mentor program
-
Former Camp TLC campers who are fully independent in personal care may be invited to mentor younger
campers in cabin teams. Invitations go out in late winter; a brief staff interview completes acceptance.
Teen tracks use the same application window as other campers. Email directors with questions about eligibility.
